Black Mug 15oz - Army - 761st Tank Battalion SSI w Name Tape X 300

The 761st Tank Battalion, nicknamed the "Black Panthers," was the first African American armored unit to enter combat during World War II. They fought in six European countries, participating in four major Allied campaigns with the Third, Seventh, and Ninth Armies. Despite facing severe challenges like harsh weather, difficult terrain, and heavy German resistance, the 761st inflicted significant casualties and captured or destroyed numerous enemy weapons. They suffered a high casualty rate of nearly 50 percent. The battalion was finally recognized with a Presidential Unit Citation in 1978, 33 years after the war's end, and Sergeant Ruben Rivers posthumously received the Medal of Honor in 1997.
