The 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment has a history stretching back to the late 18th century, with roots in the early U.S. Army. Initially part of the 2nd Infantry Regiment, it was later designated as the 2nd Sub-Legion within the Legion of the United States. The battalion played a role in the Battle of Fallen Timbers, a significant victory for the post-Revolutionary Army. Later, it was reactivated during World War II as part of the 1st Marine Division and saw action in the Pacific, including the Korean War.
